Artlighting OSRAM contacted HENRY & CO. for the design of a new low-energy museum lighting system.
Among the design requirements, the spotlight had to be extremely compact and consist of a limited number of components to support low-cost production.

Based on the design requirements, HENRY & CO. developed a low-voltage track lighting system with an adjustable light body just 5 cm in height and 4 cm in diameter. The light source was implemented using a single cob LED, and the light beam was managed using a conical reflector.

The main design challenge was heat dissipation: concentrating so much power in an extremely small light body, HENRY & CO. had to study a dissipation system capable of maximizing the available volume. The solution was achieved by integrating the heat dissipation system into the spotlight’s body: by combining the heat sink with the adjustable aluminum body, the dissipation area was increased sufficiently to maintain the ideal operating temperature.

The result is a compact, efficient, lightweight, and cost-effective museum lighting system, composed of only four original components in total.
