The importance of eco packaging: every year, 369 million tonnes of plastic are produced
Designed to be a long-lasting material, plastic does not dissolve in water but fragments into smaller pieces contributing to microplastics that are impossible to recover.
Every year, 369 million tonnes of plastic are produced, which is 53 kg for every inhabitant of the planet. The advancement of this system will lead to more plastics than fish in our oceans by 2050.
From the mission to clean up the oceans comes YouSea, a Dutch company that produces concentrated tabs for room cleaning for a lower environmental impact. The cost of transporting the concentrated tabs is considerably better because it prevents the movement of numerous detergent bottles. The result is a product that lasts longer, and is innovative and eco-friendly.
A brand identity designed to reduce environmental impact
Four relevant aspects were identified for the brand:
- solubility of the product;
- ecological footprint;
- value of the connection between human being and the ocean;
- preservation of the ocean itself.
All aspects of sustainability were taken into account in the design, including the three Rs of sustainability: removed/reduce, reuse and recycle.
In the logo, a reduction of the field was carried out in order to reduce the use of ink during printing. Again with a view to reducing the environmental impact, it was decided to opt for spot colour.
Eco packaging with certified materials and 100% recyclable
Alongside the cardboard packaging, the team concentrated on gadgets: ceramic dispensers and sprays made of aluminium, an easily recyclable material.
