Challenge
Creating a new lighting concept able to interpret and shape the sustainable materials of the 9010 lighting bodies.
Result
Design of a family of lighting bodies that encode in a minimalistic and biomimetic language an idea of lighting inspired by nature and its most spectacular optical phenomena.
Client

SDGs
Solid, structural, and concrete yet soft, fluid, and abstract. Levico combines the organic sinuosity of the curve with the solid architectural presence of Betaly® in a play of contrasts, an oxymoron of form and matter that synthesizes into an iconic and minimal product. Starting from the architectural cell par excellence, the column, Levico allows light to determine its own shape, evoking in it the romantic clash between natural and artificial forces.
Inspired by the slow geomorphological action of rivers, Levico treats light as a liquid, an erosive force capable of shaping the lighting body itself. Like a high-altitude spring, the light source is isolated and concealed, and like river water, the light carves its path through the lighting body, leaving behind basins and depressions that soften its diffusion.

Levico lamps naturally embody sustainability characteristics, relevant both to the production stage and the entire lifecycle of the product. The Betaly® they’re made from is a recycled material derived from reusing cement and marble waste. Being non-toxic and extremely durable, it adapts perfectly to outdoor environments, extending the product’s life.
Its light weight allows for lower transport costs without compromising its material or design qualities. The structure is a single block of material, and the lighting body is attached directly onto the object, providing great ease of maintenance and an incredible simplicity of assembly.
LED lighting provides energy saving and extends the life of the product compared to traditional halogen or neon bulbs. At the end of life, the lamps can be easily disassembled, and every component can be easily recycled.

Lighting and biomimetics merge into a sinuous form that gives light unexpected textures. The Spiraglio wall lamp designed for 9010 Belfiore is the perfect combination of form and the innovative material Cristaly®, a product entirely handmade in Italy, inert, hypoallergenic, and totally made from non-toxic elements which, even in case of a fire, do not produce harmful fumes for humans.
Spiraglio draws inspiration from sinuous and natural forms that, playing with the light, trace blades of light across surfaces. It is from this effect that the concept gets its name: by sharply cutting the light beam, a glimpse, a window of light revealing mystery and wonder, opens up to the eyes of the observer.
